OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Breast cancer death rates in the United States have dropped by 44% since 1989. Breast cancer awareness month has encouraged millions to take action, resulting in early detection and advancements in treatment that have saved more than half a million lives.
Lee's fight
LEE EVANS, CFO OF WHITE RHINO COFFEE
Raised by a single mother alongside her three sisters, Lee learned early the importance of women’s voices. She raised her daughter, as a single mother, to be a fierce, independent woman and instilled in her the importance of women’s health. Prior to her diagnosis, Lee was the captain of the Raising Cane’s team at the Race for the Cure after losing 2 dear friends to breast cancer. In 2014, Lee was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery and treatment. If not for her annual mammograms and the advances in mammography and breast imaging, her battle would have been far more challenging.
“My diagnosis paled in comparison to some of my family and friends who have fought bravely against this pervasive disease. Many have lost their battle, so it is my duty to champion the fight for a cure. Annual mammograms are the least we can do to ensure we catch this disease early and have a chance for a cure.”
